2023 National Civic Education Award

Through CivicInfo BC and CivicJobs.ca we are committed to improving local
government by providing a wide variety of tools and information resources for
those who work, or have an interest in local government. As part of this
commitment 2% of CivicJobs.ca gross sales are set aside to fund this award.

This award was created to provide assistance to those pursuing higher education
in the local government field of study. The award application period opens
Monday, February 20th and closes Friday, March 31st at 4pm.

The award of $1,000 will be announced in June 2023. The selection committee
will evaluate applications based on but not limited to the following criteria:

1. Demonstrated financial need
2. Remoteness of the employing community
3. Size of employer (smaller communities will be scored preferentially)
4. Demonstrated employer committment and confirmation of support
5. Type of education pursued
6. Demonstrated commitment to the local government field of education

To be eligible, you must be enrolled in a post-secondary local government specific
education program and be employed by a Canadian local government or non-profit
organization that supports local government in Canada. Students may be in
certificate, undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate programs; all are
eligible.
